Like most, I’ve always noticed and felt the effects of the full moon, from howling at it when it rose and blaming it for crazy antics when anything went awry, to simply admiring it’s beauty. For about the last year and a half or so I’ve made art for the moon phases, channeling how I feel about the astrology into the collages. If you follow cycles of nature, you’ll always have a prompt, and only creative block when you really don’t make the time. I started to really connect to new moon beginnings, and full moon endings- and they become not just a prompt for a collage but a prompt for healing a specific aspect in my life. Slowly over time it’s helped me peel away layers of awareness and discover hidden truths.
Tonight the Moon in Aquarius will rise in direct opposition to the Sun in Leo. These two signs as a polarity represent the ego (Leo) and extended community, or society (Aquarius).
The irony of Aquarius is that they are inherently unique and eccentric, however they point to an entire society of inherently unique and eccentric individuals. It’s polarity Leo provides the ego to ensure that they are indeed unique, even if everyone else is too. But that, I think is the point of the beauty of this.
While Leo season may be about self-expression and getting on the proverbial stage, the intentions of the Aquarius moon are really in taking your community, or audience into your heart. We love stories because we relate and see ourselves in them.
It’s a symbiotic relationship between the actors and the audience. The actor projects the myth on stage, pure spirit moving through their bodies.
The audience receives that story and applies it to their own unique experience, and suddenly we are connected through the commonality of emotions, archetypes, and stories of despair and triumph.
The stories we tell ourselves and others are powerful. They can stand the test of time, being passed down generation after generation and often taking on mythic qualities. We are also in this day and age where we are acutely aware of manipulative or false stories and the ramifications they have on the masses as well. It begs the question, what stories are you telling? What stories is it time to lay to rest? What impact do you want your stories to have, if you knew they would be re-told for years to come?
The Full Moon is like a face-off, inner world and outer world standing in stark contrast to highlight differences, discrepancies, and opportunities for integration. It represents something coming to culmination, and an opportunity to release anything holding you back. It shows us the power of reconciling opposites & polarities, beyond the duality of “good” and “bad.” With that said, I hope you have a healthy and safe full moon, have fun and be creative!
