Lately, I’ve been meditating on the eclipses. They are major astronomical events that scientists are still currently researching it’s impacts on the planet and its satellites & atmosphere. And then there are the myriad belief systems all with different approaches to eclipses: many warning against manifesting during this time, some say it’s an omen and not to even go outside during one. So, I’m still exploring what this means to me. Today, as I was doing the dishes I had a flash of insight.
So what does it mean, energetically, when the Sun and Moon are so conjunct casts a visible shadow on earth? The Sun represents the masculine, outward, projecting energy while the moon represents feminine, yin, receptive energy.
When they become this exact in their alignment, it opens up a rare opportunity for transcending duality and getting a glimpse of divine understanding. That’s one of the reasons eclipses are so volatile, because it is holding the energy of two extreme opposites at once.
Personally, I don’t believe it is a time to manifest. I believe it is a time to integrate.
So much of suffering is rooted in separation caused by duality. It’s the struggle between life and death, conservation vs progress, mind and body, spirituality vs science, individual and collective, order and chaos, light and dark, love and hate.
To integrate, or synthesize these ideas is To hold both perspectives simultaneously by transcending the binary, and seeking a more holistic understanding. We can do this by recognizing the interdependence and interconnectedness of these opposing forces.
We can seek balance by identifying when one aspect of the duality should take precedence over another.
For example, with Order and Chaos, understand that order can emerge from chaos, but too much order leads to stagnation. By seeing beyond black and white and incorporating more shades of gray allows for a more nuanced perspective.
So perhaps this Solar Eclipse in Libra is encouraging us to transcend binary thinking in our relationships is simply right or wrong, win or lose, but as complex web of intricacies completely dependent on context and discernment. The self and other are inextricably linked, as all are opposites. But remember, if these are the themes for us to transcend, be prepared for any imbalances to make themselves known during this time.
